Over 50s Club - St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church
On November 5th, 2008, The Joan Gaeta Lung Cancer Fund addressed the Over 50s Club at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Smyrna, Georgia. We educated the group on our cause and worked to raise awareness.
Fund president Joe Gaeta led a multimedia presentation which enlightened the group to the tragic and unacceptable statistics relating to lung cancer. We also covered the lack of research funds allocated to the disease. In addition, early detection was advocated and risk factors were discussed. We also distributed informational brochures and other items to help spread the word.
After the presentation, board members Theresa Gaeta Andretta and Maria Gaeta Cresslerpresented an array of items from our store and fielded questions pertaining to Joan's watercolors. A very sincere "Thank You" to the Over 50s Club for inviting us to their monthly meeting and for allowing us to speak on behalf of all lung cancer advocates around the country and the world.
